The Rose That Grew From Concrete: House of Rose makes its Runway Debut
By Tolu Karunwi
There’s something about a rustic setting that always gets me excited. The venue offered a unique introduction to a story soon to be told, a textured canvas that offers a pretext for beauty. Roseline Rose Couture’s House of Rose collection redefined beauty with a clear focus and audience in mind. As I sat amongst fellow fashion enthusiasts and eager attendees, the petal-lined runway began to bloom with several looks. It became immediately apparent that RRC is a brand that cares deeply about women.
“The brand’s vision is to empower women to see themselves as God created them”
Each look was carried confidently, with hues of pink, red, black and white standing out as key elements of the selected palette. It evoked a sense of assuredness, confidently asserting that this collection is for a woman who is unafraid and unashamed, a woman who laughs without fear of the future, a woman who knows who she is and whom she represents at any given moment. Fashion is a signpost, a way to showcase what’s within in an intentional way. House of Rose was strongly rooted in Christ and displayed His splendour and His glory. The founder herself let it be known that the brand’s vision is “to empower women to see themselves as God created them.”
There were showstoppers and practical pieces, from gowns to suits and even cocktail dresses. The line indicated Roseline’s elite artistry but the pieces were so wearable and could’ve been pulled straight from the runway; I’m pretty sure I peeped my next birthday dress amidst the immaculate selection. If I had to use three words to describe it all, it would be ‘feminine, clean and cohesive.’
If I had to use three words to describe it all, it would be ‘feminine, clean and cohesive.’
Overcome by the emotion of seeing all her hard work and resilience on display, Roseline - the designer and founder of RRC shared the ethos behind her brand. It was not only so beautifully heartfelt but was wildly accurate. There was truly something for every woman that screamed ‘confidence’, that screamed ‘I’m here.’ The collection represents a woman whose beauty is persistent, a rose growing unapologetically in the face of challenges. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Roseline’s hard work and artistry bloom on the runway. I look forward to witnessing the growth of such an intentional brand.
Bravo!
